What was impressive last month, is now just the norm. Each time you launch your best, your competitor is ready with a better one! But the challenge is to understand who your competitors are.

Having said this, you might ponder - “Every company knows their competitors well.” Yes, you have been keeping an eye on all of their posts, every changed strategy, every tweet and every new launch. Perfect! But again, have you spotted your “right competitor”?

Today your competitor is not just the other company doing similar business. The competition is a ground where your competitors can be very unpredictable.

Here is a collection of companies/sectors which have a fresh competition in terms of UX.

  • Competition to Nikon -

Who according to you was the biggest competitor of Nikon in the 90s? Were they some similar camera manufacturing companies? Not really! It was Nokia Yes and that was because Nokia phones started integrating cameras with the phones. The crowd was going crazy with the idea of carrying a single gadget for phone dedicated functions with one more leg added to it – Camera!

  • Competition to banking apps

Today a user experience on a bank app is not compared to another bank app. Rather the user compares it with the ease he gets on payment wallets, which are extensively being used in online purchasing.

Today, 60% of the user who reach the PAY NOW screen on any online purchase site use payment wallets to do their transactions. Reasons being - Avoid entering details every time, instant refunds and cash backs, lesser screens to be traveled.

  • Competition to food apps

Widening the scope of competition, the game here is not just limited to other apps. Food apps have a different benchmark to reach - “Hotels”. People eat with their eyes! The hoardings of juicy chicken burger dripping with cheese and the aroma of food commands them to stop, enter the hotel and grab it instantly. This is a big challenge for food apps. They have to make the food look live so that user cannot stop.
